Description

This easy Asian ground beef is packed with garlic, ginger, and a delicious sweet and savory sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, it's perfect for busy weeknights. Serve it over rice with fresh basil, avocado, and sesame seeds for a quick, flavorful dinner the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce - for that deep, savory base.
  • 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

Cook Rice:

  1. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. You'll need about 2 cups of cooked rice for serving.

Brown the ground beef

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add flavor: Toss in the chopped garlic and grated ginger. Stir for about 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the garlic and ginger

  1. Add the minced garlic and freshly grated ginger. Stir for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the sauce

  1. Pour in the soy sauce and sweet chili sauce. Stir well and simmer for 8–10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef.

Add the basil

  1. Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Notes

Tips

  • Add vegetables: Stir in green beans, mushrooms, or shredded carrots for extra texture and nutrition.
  • Make it spicy: Add chili flakes or sriracha for an extra kick.
  • Try a different protein: Ground turkey or chicken works well in place of beef.
  • Make it low-carb: Serve over cauliflower rice or in lettuce wraps.
  • Meal prep: Store the cooked beef separately from rice and fresh toppings. Add avocado and basil just before serving.
