Description

Vanilla Matcha Latte (vegan!) is made with just 4 simple ingredients—matcha powder, your milk of choice, sweetener, and a splash of vanilla extract—it's easy, healthy, and will give you a natural energy boost. It only takes 5 minutes to make.

Ingredients

Scale

1 teaspoon matcha

1 cup almond milk (or any milk of your choice: soy, oat, coconut)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 teaspoons sweetener (honey, agave, or sugar) Optional

Hot water (not boiling)

Ice cubes (for the iced version)

Instructions

Prepare the Matcha Paste: Sift matcha powder into a glass or mug. Add a small amount of hot water (not boiling) and whisk until a smooth paste forms.

Heat Up the Milk: In a saucepan, microwave, or use a milk frother, heat until hot but not boiling.

Add sweetener and Vanilla: Add maple syrup and vanilla extract to the hot milk. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preferences.

Combine Matcha and Milk: Slowly add the hot vanilla-infused milk, stirring continuously to ensure a creamy consistency. Top with frothy milk and a dusting of cinnamon (optional).

HOW TO MAKE A MATCHA ICED LATTE:

For an iced version, add ice cubes to the glass.

Prepare the Matcha Paste: Sift matcha powder into a glass or mug. Add a small amount of hot water (not boiling) and whisk until a smooth paste forms.

Add Vanilla + Sweetener: Add vanilla to the hot milk. Add sweetener of choice. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preferences.

Combine Matcha and Milk: Slowly add the hot vanilla-infused milk, stirring continuously for a creamy consistency.

Allow the Milk to Cool: Allow the milk to cool before pouring it over the ice cubes.

Optional: Top it off with cold foamy milk.

Notes

Milk Temperature: Ensure that your milk is heated but not boiling. Boiling water or milk will affect the taste and you will end up with bitter matcha.

Use a Milk Frother: I like using a hand-held milk frother, I find this works best. They are relatively inexpensive and worth the purchase, especially if you are making lattes regularly.

Add More Sweetener if Needed: If you love sweet drinks then taste your latte and add more sweetener if you like.

Choose High-Quality Matcha: Try to use the best grade matcha. It's not necessary but it will improve the flavor of your latte.
