Do you love matcha as much as I do? Especially when it's added to dessert, like my matcha cheesecake, It has such a unique taste.
The reason why I love this matcha latte recipe is that when you add matcha to milk it turns into a creamy, smooth, and totally delicious drink, just like the one you will get at your local coffee shop but best of all, it's healthy!
It's packed with antioxidants and goodness. In the summer months, I love to serve it ice cold with lots of ice cubes- it's so refreshing.
Just like my London Fog, or Hot Chocolate recipes, you can have these drinks without leaving the house. And let’s be real—it’s a lot cheaper than a Starbucks run and no barista skills are required!
As I mentioned above, you don't need any fancy equipment! Sure, a traditional bamboo matcha whisk is fun to use (and feels super zen), but honestly, a milk frother does the job just as well—so no stress there.
💚 WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS
Vegan? Opt for plant-based milk.
Keto or low-carb? Skip the sweetener or use a keto-friendly sweetener.
Gluten-free? Ensure your vanilla syrup is gluten-free.
Enjoy Hot or Iced: Serve it warm on a chilly morning or over ice cubes on a warm, summer afternoon.
Healthy Skin? .. did someone say matcha is good for glowing skin? I've got this recipe on repeat! 🌟

For a creamy texture, oat milk or almond milk are popular dairy-free and vegan options. While regular whole milk gives a richer, traditional flavor.
❓FAQS
Yes, a milk frother does create the best foam, but you can achieve a good froth by vigorously whisking or shaking heated milk in a tightly sealed container. If this is too much effort, you can simply heat the milk and pour it over the matcha and it will still taste delicious.
Yes, you can make a keto-friendly version by choosing a keto-approved sweetener (or omitting sweetener altogether)
📝 TIPS AND TRICKS
Choose High-Quality Matcha: Try to use the best grade matcha. It's not necessary but it will improve the flavor of your latte.
Add More Sweetener if Needed: If you love sweet drinks then taste your latte and add more sweetener if you like.
Milk Temperature: Ensure that your milk is heated but not boiling. Boiling water or milk will affect the taste and you will end up with bitter matcha.
Use a milk frother: I like using a hand-held milk frother, I find this works best. They are relatively inexpensive and worth the purchase, especially if you are making lattes on a regular basis.
MAKE-AHEAD, STORAGE AND REHEATING
MAKE-AHEAD
Matcha Paste: You can prepare the matcha paste in advance by sifting the matcha powder and whisking it with a small amount of water. Store the paste in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days. When ready to use, simply whisk it again and add to warm milk.
STORAGE
It is best to drink your matcha straight away but if you have any leftovers then store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
REHEATING
To reheat the vanilla matcha latte, gently heat the milk without bringing it to a boil. You can use a saucepan on the stove or a microwave, stirring occasionally.
