💸 WHY IS THIS BUDGET FRIENDLY?
- Affordable pantry staples – The sauce is made from common ingredients like mayo, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha—things you probably already have in your fridge.
- Chicken = Cost-effective protein – Using boneless chicken thighs or breasts gives you plenty of protein without breaking the bank, especially when bought in bulk. Serve it with my budget-friendly cucumber salad on the side.
- Oven-baked, not grilled – No fancy grill or deep fryer needed! Just a baking tray and an oven.

🥄 INGREDIENTS NEEDED
FOR THE BANG BANG SAUCE:
MAYONNAISE: A good quality mayo is always recommended.
THAI SWEET CHILI SAUCE: The best for this bang bang sauce.
SRIRACHE: Optional to add more if you love heat or use your favorite chili sauce.
HONEY: Adds sweetness and balances the flavors.
FOR THE CHICKEN + MARINADE:
CHICKEN: Thighs or breasts cut into cubes.
OLIVE OIL: Extra virgin is good.
DRIED HERBS: smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
LIME JUICE: Fresh limes are great because you can slice them up and serve them as a garnish.

👩🏼🍳 STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Note: Please scroll to the full printable recipe card at the bottom for ingredient quantities and the method
1. Make the Bang Bang Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey. Taste and adjust the sriracha if you like it extra spicy.
Divide the sauce in half—one half is for brushing before baking, the other for drizzling before serving.
2. Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with olive oil, lime juice, salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes while you soak your wooden skewers in water.

3. Skewer the Chicken
Thread the chicken cubes tightly onto skewers. Brush them generously with half the bang bang sauce.
4. Bake (or Grill)
Place skewers on a lined baking tray or wire rack.
Bake at 220°C (425°F) for 18–20 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
Optional: Broil for an extra 2–3 minutes at the end to get those crispy golden edges!

5. Drizzle & Serve
Once out of the oven, drizzle the remaining bang bang sauce over the hot skewers. Sprinkle with chopped herbs, sesame seeds, or chili flakes if you're feeling fancy. Serve immediately.
🌀 AIR FRYER INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F).
- Arrange the skewers in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to work in batches). Don’t overcrowd the basket—leave a little space for air to circulate.
- Brush with half of the Bang Bang sauce before cooking, just like in the oven method.
- Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping once halfway through. Check that the chicken is cooked through and slightly crisp on the edges. Want extra crispy edges? Add 1–2 more minutes to the cook time at the end.
- The timings will depend on how thick the chicken pieces are; always check with a thermometer to be sure.
- Drizzle with the remaining sauce right before serving.
