💸 WHY THIS FANCY APPETIZER IS SECRETLY BUDGET-FRIENDLY?
You can totally make this luxe-looking dish on a budget!
- Brie wheel: Grab it from the supermarket’s own-brand section (often half the price of imported wheels but just as creamy).
- Jam: Choose the no-name brand/cheaper jam. It’s going to be baked, so no one will know once you cover it in nuts. You can also use any jam you have in your pantry.
- Nuts: A little goes a long way. Buy nuts in bulk or from the baking aisle to save.
- Baguette: Skip the artisan bakery. Supermarket baguettes = crusty, carby goodness for under $2.

🥄 INGREDIENTS NEEDED AND SUBSTITUTIONS
BRIE
If you can’t find Brie, Camembert makes a great substitute with a slightly stronger aroma and similar oozy goodness when warm. (200–250g / 13 oz)
JAM
Any jam that you fancy. Figs, apricots, berry jam, strawberry jam, or even cherry jam.
MIXED NUTS
Feel free to use what you have — almonds, cashews, or even hazelnuts work just as well.
HONEY
No honey? Try maple syrup or agave nectar.
CHILI FLAKES
If you’re not into spice, skip it.
BAGUETTE (FOR SERVING)
The crusty baguette slices act as your edible scoop for all that gooey, cheesy deliciousness. Toast them lightly for a perfect crunch. If you don’t have a baguette, use crackers, crostini, or even apple slices for a fresh, gluten-free option.
