- Yield: 6 -8 servings 1x
Description
This apple crumble (budget dessert recipe!) has tender pieces of gooey apples topped with a soft, crumbly, and buttery oat topping. Serve it warm with Greek yogurt for a healthy but classic fall dessert, or go all out with vanilla ice cream!
Ingredients
FOR APPLE BASE
6-8 medium apples cored, peeled, and sliced into bite-size portions (about 3 cups chopped)
4 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
FOR THE CRUMBLE:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup loosely packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
125 g unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
TO MAKE THE BASE:
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F
Add apples to your greased baking dish. (1.5-quart baking dish).
Pour over maple syrup and sprinkle the cinnamon (optional). Give it a toss.

TO MAKE THE CRUMBLE:
Mix flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and melted butter together. The mixture will be clumpy. Place the mixture evenly on top of the apples.

Bake in the oven until golden brown and sides are bubbling, about 40 - 45 minutes.
Once golden on the top, remove from the oven. Serve with ice cream, custard, or whipped cream.
Notes
🍎 Use Different Apple Varieties: Experiment with different apple varieties. I would really recommend combining sweet and tart apples together. It gives the apple crumble a unique taste. A little sweet and a little tart. 💫
🌰 Different Topping Add-Ins: Add chopped nuts, like pecans or walnuts, to the oat topping for added crunch.
