Ingredients needed

You only need five simple ingredients to make this strawberry chia pudding with Greek yogurt.

Strawberries: Use 150 g fresh strawberries. Ripe, sweet strawberries will give your pudding the best flavor. Have extra strawberries to use up? My Strawberry Smoothie Bowl is another quick breakfast option.

Greek yogurt: You'll need 250 g Greek yogurt. It makes the pudding thick and creamy while adding protein, and there's no need to add milk.

Chia seeds: Three tablespoons of chia seeds help thicken the yogurt and strawberry mixture as it chills.

Honey: Add 2 teaspoons of honey if you'd like some extra sweetness. This is optional, so you can leave it out if your strawberries and yogurt are already sweet enough.

Chocolate: Melt 50 g of chocolate and pour it over the pudding before refrigerating. Once chilled, it creates a chocolate shell on top.

SUBSTITUTIONS & VARIATIONS

Yogurt: Use your favourite thick Greek yogurt. Vanilla Greek yogurt can also be used, but you may want to reduce or skip the honey.

Sweetener: Swap the honey for maple syrup if preferred.

Chocolate: Milk chocolate gives the pudding a sweeter shell, while dark chocolate creates a richer topping.

Strawberries: Fresh strawberries give the best texture, but thawed frozen strawberries can work too. Drain excess liquid before mashing.

❓FAQS

How long does strawberry chia pudding take to set?

Strawberry chia pudding needs at least 2 hours in the refrigerator to thicken properly. For the best texture, make it ahead and leave it to chill overnight.

Can I make strawberry chia pudding the night before?

Yes! This strawberry chia pudding with yogurt is a great make-ahead recipe. Prepare it the night before, refrigerate it, and it will be ready to enjoy the following morning.

How long does strawberry chia pudding last in the fridge?

Store strawberry chia pudding covered in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. If you've added the chocolate shell, keep it chilled until you're ready to eat it.

Tips for the best chia pudding

Use ripe strawberries: The sweeter and riper the strawberries, the more flavour your pudding will have.

Give it enough time to set: Chia seeds need time to absorb moisture and thicken the pudding. Refrigerate until the mixture is thick and creamy.

Adjust the sweetness: Taste the strawberry and yogurt mixture before adding the chocolate. Depending on your strawberries and yogurt, you may want more or less honey.

For a smooth chocolate shell: Melt the chocolate gently and spread it in a thin, even layer over the pudding. A thinner layer is easier to crack with a spoon.

Make it ahead: This recipe is ideal for preparing the night before so the chia seeds have plenty of time to soften and thicken. For another easy prep-ahead breakfast, try my Cinnamon Roll Overnight Oats.

Notes

Use ripe strawberries. Because strawberries are the main flavor in this recipe, sweet and juicy berries make a big difference.

Adjust the sweetness. Taste the strawberry and yogurt mixture before adding the chocolate. Add the honey if you prefer it sweeter.

Stir the chia seeds thoroughly. Make sure there aren't any clumps of chia seeds hiding at the bottom of the bowl.

Give it time to set. The chia seeds need time to absorb moisture and thicken the pudding, so don't rush the chilling time.
