⏱️ WHAT IS A MINUTE STEAK?

Minute steak refers to a very thin cut of beef, typically from the rump, sirloin, or round, that cooks in—you guessed it—a minute (or two). It’s tenderized either naturally or with a mallet, making it ideal for fast cooking methods like pan-frying or grilling.

Description

Very easy minute steak (and fries!) is a budget steak recipe that comes together in under 20 minutes and is ideal for a cozy night in, a healthy beef lunch idea, or even a last-minute steak sandwich fix. We're talking perfectly pan-fried steak, golden oven fries, and all the yum without the fuss.

Ingredients

Scale

2-4 minute steaks (thin-sliced sirloin, rump, or tenderized beef)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

Salt and fresh cracked pepper

Optional: garlic powder, paprika, or steak spice

1 bag frozen oven fries

Olive oil spray (optional, for extra crisp)

Salt to taste

Instructions

1. Bake Your Oven Fries

Preheat your oven to 220°C/425°F and pop in your frozen fries on a baking tray and into the oven. For maximum crispiness, spread them out in a single layer and bake until golden. A light spray of oil works wonders here.

2. Heat Your Cast Iron Skillet

About 10 minutes before your fries are ready to be removed from the oven, heat a cast-iron skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add your butter and olive oil. This gives you that rich flavor without burning the butter.

3. Prep the Steaks

Pat your thin steaks dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, and optional spices.  ⭐️Dry steaks sear better- don’t skip this!

4. Sear Fast

Add steaks to the hot skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes per side for medium rare. These are thin-cut beef steaks, so they cook lightning fast. Let them rest off the heat for a few minutes to keep them juicy.

🥩 Want it well done? Just add another 30–60 seconds per side. Easy.

Serve your minute steaks with a good side of fries. Enjoy!

Notes

Butter + oil combo = golden crust without burning.

Use a hot cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan.

Thin steaks = fast cooking. Don’t walk away!

Always let the steak rest before slicing.

Slice against the grain for tenderness.

Frozen fries are the best—just don’t crowd the tray. I like to bake mine in the air fryer.
